In this comprehensive training, you will observe, experience and practice the best that chairwork has to offer psychotherapy and counselling
This is an intensive training course that provides approximately 21 hours CPD.
This three day intensive training event will you the skills and confidence to use chairwork in your everyday clinical practice, and apply it to a range of difficulties.
Drawing on a variety of therapeutic approaches, you learn the most effective chairwork methods and how you can use them in face-to-face and online therapy. Emphasis will also be placed on the value of working with ‘parts’ in psychotherapy and counselling.
This training event will use our unique blend of didactic teaching, self-practice, live demonstrations, and breakout room role-plays. Therapists who offer Schema Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, CBT, ACT, CAT, Voice Dialogue, and Internal Family Systems Therapy will find the training particularly useful.

Tobyn Bell is a Compassion-Focused and Cognitive-Behavioural Psychotherapist, Trainer, and Supervisor. He is a co-founder of Chairwork and a co-author of the book ‘Compassion Focused Therapy from the Inside Out: A Self-practice/Self-reflection Workbook for Therapists’. Tobyn regularly provides national and international training on compassion and chairwork, and is actively involved in ongoing research within these areas.
The workshop is predominantly skills-based and experiential. It will include live observations, practical exercises, theoretical discussion, and group reflection. This workshop is open to people who are new to chairwork or use it regularly, including Practitioner Psychologists, Counsellors, Psychotherapists, and other mental health professionals.
This workshop is provided online, via Zoom. Participants will receive detailed handouts (including step-by-step guides for using chairwork) before the workshop.
